This course is designed for beginners in 3D modeling with Rhino3D. As we focus on the fundamentals of Rhinoceros 3D, the course does not primarily target technical modeling. Instead, the emphasis is on critical aspects of the program's interface, working in a 3D space, utilizing essential tools, and building a strong foundation with Rhino3D.

One key element of the course is training in 3D modeling, after which you’ll be able to create a concept car as part of your learning journey. This training will teach you to think effectively in Rhino3D, enabling you to transition from ideas to 3D models as quickly as possible. You won’t have to worry about not understanding the material—the course is structured to give you ample time to absorb and master the concepts

  • Foundations of Rhino3D Knowledge

    Foundations of Rhino3D Knowledge

    In the initial stage, students will learn the components of the interface, how viewports work, and how to use the mouse in Rhino3D.

    This stage also covers the fundamental principles of creating NURBS curves and constructing 3D objects. The first step is packed with insights into creating 3D objects and understanding the CSS principle—Curve, Surface, Solid. This original step-by-step approach to learning Rhino3D begins with drawing a line or curve; surfaces are then generated from these lines or curves, and solids are created by combining multiple surfaces.

    These foundational skills will help you understand the rules governing the 3D environment and smoothly transition to the next stage of exploring tools for working in Rhino3D.

  • Basic Knowledge of Tools and Their Functions

    At this stage, I explain the purpose of various tools in Rhino3D, how to activate them, and the sequence of processing commands within the program. It is crucial to understand how creation and editing tools work and what they are used for.

    This knowledge will enable you to start professionally executing 3D projects right away. You don’t need to master every tool to begin modeling in Rhino3D—creating even fairly complex 3D objects typically requires only 15–20 tools. During this stage, you’ll become familiar with these essential tools and learn how to use them to create your first 3D object.

  • Using Tools

    This stage focuses on practicing and reinforcing the rules for using the tools introduced in the previous step. Here, you’ll start modeling your first ideas, following a few guided steps.

    By this stage, you’ll be ready to experiment with Rhino3D and have a solid understanding of how it works. This will make the process much more intuitive. Additionally, this step teaches the most essential skill for working with Rhino3D—creativity. With a strong grasp of the tools and their applications, you’ll learn to turn your ideas into 3D objects.

    To support your progress, you’ll have a specially prepared guide to help you solidify your knowledge.

  • Practical Exercises to Reinforce Knowledge

    At this stage, you’ll solidify your knowledge through hands-on exercises. Trust me, it works—I’ve tested this method with many of my students. Step by step, at your own pace, I’ll guide you through the concept of designing a future electric vehicle.

    You’ll go through the entire design process, from the car body to the wheels, electric motor, suspension, and even the final touch—the emblem design. During this training, you’ll not only practice the tools you’ve learned throughout the course but also discover some new ones, helping you explore Rhino 3D in your own unique way.

    Remember, after this stage, your journey into real 3D modeling truly begins.

Krzysztof Kubasek

I am an industrial designer and a Doctor of Arts in Industrial Design. I teach design at universities such as the School of Form in Poznań and the Academy of Fine Arts in Wrocław. I have the expertise and experience to manage industrial projects comprehensively—from concept and graphic presentation to 3D modeling, CNC prototyping, prototypes, 3D printing, selecting manufacturing technologies and materials, to extensive CAD documentation. Together with Wrocław University of Technology and the Wrocław Tech Park, we are developing social robots based on advanced technologies. The projects of my studio, Kubasek, have been exhibited at Arena Design Poznań, the Science Museum in London, the Museum of Science and Industry in Chicago, FLASH on Innovations-Technology-Machines in Poland, Technology ISH Exposition in Frankfurt, CEBIT Hannover, Robots on Tour in Zurich, and CES in Las Vegas.
